Harris County is Hiring a Communications Intern Near Houston, TX
This is an internship opportunity for college students interested in public affairs and/or communications careers. The Communications Department at the Harris County Clerk's Office (HCCO) manages all internal and external communications. As an intern in the Communications Department, you will gain practical experience in the largest county government in Texas while fulfilling academic or graduation requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists with writing projects. (Ex: internal/external newsletters, informational materials, social media copy, etc.)
Contribute to audiovisual content for print and web. (Ex: social media creative, video editing, outreach materials, etc.)
Assists with outreach events. (Ex: press conferences, election-related events, community events, etc.)

Required Supporting Documents:
Applicants are required to submit a writing sample with their application.
Samples should be between 400-700 words.
The applicant may choose the topic of their writing sample.
Applicants may submit a writing sample from their previous coursework, or they may create a new one.
Education:
Current Junior (>60 credit hours completed) or Senior (>90 credit hours completed) at an accredited college or university.
Major in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Marketing or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work 20 hours during normal working hours (Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.).
Note: There may be occasional opportunities to work in the evenings or on weekends, as needed.
Valid Driver's License and ability to commute to events.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
