Harmony Home Care is Hiring an Assistant Director/Office Manager Near South Windsor, CT

General Statement of Duties: Under the direction of the Director, the assistant director is responsible for assisting in the management of the Center in accordance with the state regulations along with the center’s mission, vision and policies. In conjunction with the Director, Head Teachers and staff develops and evaluates appropriate programs and activities which will meet each child’s developmental, physical, psychological, social and educational needs. Ensures that all staff are providing appropriate provision of care and implementation of activities which meet each child’s individual needs. Reports to the Director.

Usual responsibilities or work requirements:

Leadership

  • Assists in helping plan, evaluate, and administer the overall operation of the Center.
  • Provide a friendly, caring and inviting environment.
  • Promotes effective working relationships.
  • Act as a role model to other staff, promoting a harmonious environment for staff and children and families.
  • Promotes a positive image of the center and assists the director in providing appropriate workshops/functions to meet parents and community educational needs.

Supervision

  • Assists the director in providing proper supervision of the center including providing classroom coverage as needed.
  • Coordinates staff work schedules and break times.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
  • Evaluate classroom and staff performance and assistant staff with professional goals by providing positive feedback.

Administrative

  • Enroll families, conduct tours, perform family orientation.
  • Assist director with hiring and staff orientation procedure.
  • Answers phones, greets families, children and guests.
  • Maintain student and staff records.
  • Prepare newsletters and staff memos.
  • Performs monthly inventory of food, and paper supplies and arranges for their procurement.
  • Perform and record monthly fire drills and maintenance checks.
  • Assists the Director and staff in obtaining curriculum supplies.
  • Help facilitate staff meetings at least once a month.
  • Promotes the center through advertising in appropriate media.
  • Perform light maintenance duties as needed.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Create and post snack menus monthly.

Required Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of state/federal and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of CT ELDS and DOTs.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and ability to utilize ProCare Software.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Maintains continuing education requirements and keeps abreast of the latest developments in the field.
  • Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time: some standing, bending, reaching and lifting of records.

Acceptable Experience and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 36 hours of Early Childhood Education (Required).
  • Three years teaching experience with a minimum of one-year Head Teacher experience in the Early Childhood field.
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping principles
  • Connecticut Director’s Credential or willingness to obtain within two years.

Working Days:

  • Monday - Friday (Required)
  • Morning, Mid-Day, and Evening (Required)
