Harlem Children's Zone/ Promise Academy Charter Schools is Hiring a Director, Information Technology Infrastructure Near New York, NY

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned Director of Information Technology Infrastructure with our Information Technology Department.

The Director of Information Technology Infrastructure will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

The Director of Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure will spearhead the development, deployment, and management of HCZ’s technology infrastructure, providing strategic and operational oversight to the Infrastructure Team. This individual will report to the Managing Director of IT and collaborate closely with other leaders in the IT space and across departments at HCZ to ensure that the technology infrastructure aligns seamlessly with the organization’s operational needs and long-term strategic vision.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role.

  • Certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, or PMP are highly desirable.

What You’ll Do

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
  • Lead and mentor the Infrastructure Team, to ensure optimal performance, professional growth, and alignment with the IT department’s OKRs and HCZ’s mission, values, and strategic plan.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Information Technology to formulate the Information Technology Department’s OKRs.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive infrastructure strategy in alignment with our Departmental OKRs and in support of the HCZ’s goals and long-term vision.
  • Responsible for the performance management of direct reports, including continuous performance feedback, one-on-one meetings with direct and skip-level reports, and the strengthening of our hiring pipeline.
  • Establish and maintain an IT infrastructure roadmap to guide investments in technology and resources that align with the IT Department’s OKRs and HCZ’s mission.
  1. Infrastructure Management:
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of the organization's network, Cloud, SaaS, and local systems, security, and related infrastructure components.
  • Drive the continual improvement of infrastructure services by leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of infrastructure services, minimizing downtime and ensuring a robust disaster recovery and business continuity posture.
  1. Operational Excellence:
  • Oversee the development and enforcement of infrastructure policies, procedures, and standards to ensure a secure, reliable, and compliant IT environment.
  • Direct the resolution of complex infrastructure issues through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of infrastructure services.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and transparency, working closely with other IT and HCZ leaders, and the various business units across the organization to ensure that infrastructure services support organizational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure a concise and jargon-free understanding of infrastructure capabilities, performance, limitations, and future needs.
  1. Vendor Management and Procurement:
  • Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services at costs appropriate for a non-profit educational entity performing social good.
  • Oversee the procurement and asset management processes for infrastructure-related hardware, software, and services.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the infrastructure budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value delivery.
  • Work with the Managing Director of Information Technology and Finance Team to align infrastructure investments towards organizational financial planning, resource optimization and financial stewardship.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 9a – 5p
