Education: Bachelor of Science or higher in Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering is preferred but a related technical field will be considered with applicable experience.
Certification: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum fifteen (15) years of large capital project execution experience in a specialty chemicals or semiconductor or pharmaceutical manufacturing industry with minimum 5 years direct leadership in capital project environment required. Experience managing project controls such as cost control, cost estimating, and scheduling is added advantage. Experience with a formal project management methodology required including Front-End loading, detailed design, procurement, construction, and startup highly desired.
Generally responsible for executing a large capital project to build a new manufacturing facility, and lead the project team to transition products from existing high volume manufacturing facility. The project manager is the focal point of responsibility, authority, and accountability for the assigned project. You will be accountable to deliver the project on schedule, within the approved budget and with required functionality/quality and safety. This position has the overall accountability of the entire project life cycle - leading the project team starting from conceptual stage to scope development, basic engineering (FEED/FEL3), to execution (detail design, procurement, and construction), commissioning and start-up. You will be accountable for leading both internal and contractor personnel and translating the project objectives for each projects' team members. This position is responsible for stakeholder management, contract management, communication, and risk management. The ideal candidate will be results oriented in a fast-paced deadline driven environment and an excellent team player.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Be an “Agent of Change”. This person must be comfortable working with all levels across the organization. They must be able to question the status quo and be a strong communicator.• Lead capital projects to expand manufacturing capacity, transition products to high volume manufacturing, or implement continuous improvements to existing products/processes.• Utilize project management techniques to develop project charters, budgets, risk assessments, resource plans, Gantt charts and periodic status reports to stakeholders and steering committee.• Must have a solid experience with the stage gate/FEL process and construction management principles.• Leveraging your educational background in an engineering discipline as well as extensive professional experience in project management, you will be accountable leading a diverse team in planning and execution of strategically important projects.• Strong ability to influence project stakeholders will allow you to effectively communicate to executives project status, risks, and opportunities and to coordinate on countermeasures or mitigation strategies.• Championing the scope development process, you will ensure completeness of basic engineering and look for opportunities for scope optimization and added value through the application of disciplined approach and risk management.• Your proven track record of executing capital projects over $50M TIC and managing engineering and construction contractors as a project owner will enable you to be successful.• Utilizing your strong experience in construction and filed activities, you will include within your project team a culture of safety that permeates all phases of the project lifecycle.
