Harbor's Edge Continuing Care Retirement Community is Hiring a LPN Night Supervisor AL/MS Near Norfolk, VA

Description

Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our waterfront community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit. 

We are seeking positive, highly motivated, skilled full-time LPN Night Supervisors with strong leadership and clinical skills to join our teams in Assisted Living and Memory Support Units. New team members selected will be responsible to provide appropriate supervision to other staff as well as direct care, support, positive direction, and assistance to residents in accordance with each resident's individualized support plan and personal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent direct nursing care services to residents, following individual resident care plans (ADL Assignment Worksheets). Update, complete, and maintain ISP for each resident.
  • Perform assessments and help admit and discharge residents, under the direction of the Unit Manager and scope of practice as required by regulations and facility policy.
  • Administer medications, injections, and other treatments as authorized by current licensure by the VA State Board of Nursing, assessing safety of all medication, including narcotics, with inter-shift count. 
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned. Observe residents for change in condition and reports any changes immediately to RN House Supervisor and/or the Unit Manager as well as resident’s physician as directed. Document all pertinent/relevant observations, communication with resident’s physician & responsible party, clinical procedures, and daily assistance/care by the end of each shift. 
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, including bathing/showering according to schedule, oral care, toileting, dressing, etc.
  • Encourage residents to participate in recreational activities and assist transporting residents to and from activities.
  • Responds to urgent calls as needed
  • Help orient new employees
  • Attend in-service classes, training, and required staff meetings

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High school diploma/GED.
  • Current state license as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • At least three (3) years of related work experience; Assisted Living and/or Long-Term Care experience required.
  • At least one (1) year of nursing supervisory experience required. 
  • Current COVID Vaccine is required to support the health and safety of our residents and staff.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid Trained with a current, valid certificate/card.
  • ISP/UAI certification preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record system preferred
  • Must be able to exert at least 50 lbs. of energy in order to assist residents in and out of wheelchairs, beds, etc., as well as be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel, balance and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach over the head, push/pull, and grasp with both hands. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.
  • Must be able to successfully follow verbal and written instructions in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to communicate tactfully and effectively with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public.
