Position Summary: The A.D.O.N. takes on some of the responsibilities of the nursing department, as may delegated.He/She assists and supports the translation of the nursing philosopy of the center into nursing practice by practing in the planning,implemention and evaluation of the nursing care delivery system.

As the A.D.O.N. you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. In the absence of the D.O.N. , you are in charge with carrying out the resident care policies established by this facility

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

1. The A.D.O.N. assists and participates in the development,organization and implemention of the philosopy,objectives,policies and standards of nursing care in accordance with the goals of the facility care and the individual center.

2. The A.D.O.N. Confers with the D.O.N. in assessing the quality of nursing care being delivered and recognizes the need for improving or changing nursing pratices.

3.The A.D.O.N. assists with the develpoment, direction,participation and evaluation of the orientation program for nursing personnel, responsible for orienatation of new nursing employesss, as assigned .

4. Makes daily rounds to evaluate resident care, the progress of individual employees,monitor nursing practices and assist personnel with nursing and educational needs .

5. Remains cognizant of legal aspects of nursing practice as well as government regulations: demonstrates this in teaching,suprtvision and evaluation of resident care.

6. The A.D.O.N. performs rehabilition assessments upon all new admission and as requested for existing residents throughout the facility.

7. Performs or supervises the performance of restorative nursing.

8. Serves as a liaison wiyth all therapists,physical,occupational and speech.

9. Assures that the residents individualized care plan is followed.

10. Partcipares in Resident Care Plan Committee.

11. Oversees the completion of the resident Minimum Data Set, in the absence of RNAC.

12. Assumes responsibilty for utilization review procedures, as assigned

13. Acts as on-calll nursing clinical resource person, as scheduled

14. Serve in the role of Medicare Services Coordinator as needed.

15. Puts Resident Services First: Ensures that residents and familirs receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the inividuals needs and rights/

16. Performs other duties ae requested.

Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements:

1. The A.D.O.N. must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing.

2. A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent clinical experience plus previous nurse management experience preferred.

Job Skills:

1. Must have through knowledge of nursing techniques and practices

2. Must have knowkedge of medication, their proper dosage and expected results.

3. Must have ability to coordinate and supervise the nursing functions in a effective manner.

4. Must posses the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents,family members ,visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

5. Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructiond in the English language, which may be of techical nature.

6. Must have the ability to recognize and identify symptoms and to make decisions quickly in emergencies.

7. Must have the ability to train subordinates in work procedures and to organize and direct training carried out by members of the staff.

8. Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test

Performs Related Duties:

1. The A.D.O.N. interacts with residents,families,vistors and facility subsidiary personnel.

2. He/She carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required
