Job Overview

As a high-voltage battery mechanical engineering intern, you will help the HV Battery team with designing and developing components, vehicle build related activities, component definition and analysis, and supplier communication. We are looking for someone that has a strong interest in high voltage batteries and electric propulsion systems, a strong technical background based on prior experience, and hands-on skills.

What You’ll Do:

• Create 2D and 3D CAD using CATIA 3DExperience
• Develop test plans to validate prototype high voltage battery components
• Design test fixtures; overseeing the manufacturing and implementation of the designs
• Design mechanical components for the battery pack
• Design assemblies that integrate electrical components within the mechanical systems

Who You Are:

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program or greater in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field
• Experience modeling components in CAD
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, thermal, and/or fluid system design
• Understanding of 2D drawing layout and GD&T
• Motivation and willingness to learn on the job
• Ability to take ownership of a project, with guidance from the battery team
• Prior experience in automotive projects is preferred, but not required
• Collegiate teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR, Supermileage, etc.
• Hands-on experience working on vehicles
• Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
• Understanding of basic manufacturing and fabrication processes preferred
• Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain F-1 visa
