Per Diem Youth Counselor

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited university required., e.g MSW. Preferred license to practice in New Jersey e.g., LSW, LCSW, LCPC.. Experience providing assessments and therapy services. Prior experience working with youth of varied sexual orientation and gender identities, racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds, and individuals with disabilities. Excellent verbal communication skills. Creative arts background is a plus. Criminal and child abuse background checks will be required. Flexible schedule. Evening and weekend availability required.

Job Description: Per Diem Counselor is responsible for providing therapy to youth who experienced or witnessed domestic and/or sexual violence or are a survivor of teen dating violence via individual or group counseling and other therapeutic interventions as needed. Sessions to be conducted in-person from the office up to 15 hours per week. Clinical supervision provided at no cost.

  • Creates individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
  • Meeting regularly to provide counsel and treatment to clients.
  • Developing suitable therapy programs for youth based on their needs, objectives, and preferred forms of therapeutic interventions.
  • Teaching youth coping skills and strategies to enable them to deal with challenging and traumatic experiences.
  • Conducting youth group and/or family therapy sessions as required.
  • Demonstrate competency in the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet youth psychological and social needs.
  • Document sessions in youth’s record in a timely manner according to established policies.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully while maintaining and ensuring HIPAA, ethical standards, and professional boundaries with all staff and clients.
  • Support outreach efforts to raise awareness about the agency Health and Wellness program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
