HANDICAPPED DEVELOPMENT CENTER is Hiring a 2nd Shift Direct Care Supervisor Near Davenport, IA

If these are things that interest you please take a look at our Shift Supervisor position.Under the direction of the Program Supervisors of the ICF/ID, this 3rd shift position is responsible for active treatment and resident care, activity schedules, resident programming, staff scheduling and staff supervision. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Title: Shift Supervisor
Responsible to: Program Supervisors
Objective: Under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisors, this position has responsibility for the development, training and implementation of ICF/IDD unit programs in accordance with HDC philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Duties:
Treat participants/residents with dignity and respect.
Performs supervisory duties including coaching staff, assisting with performance reviews and documenting on Nova Time.
Follows all HDC, DIA, and CARF policies and procedures and informs staff of the same.
Schedules staff, assigns shift duties and group assignments and follows up to ensure completion.
Assists in training of direct care staff and volunteers in programmatic areas.
Knowledgeable of all emergency procedures and ensures staff follow such procedures.
Maintains work area in orderly fashion and ensures other do as well.
Follows all dietary policies and procedures.
Knowledgeable of individuals’ condition, needs, and whereabouts at all times. Gives and receives reports on same.
Checks individuals to be sure they are clean and appropriately dressed.
Supervises and instructs on all aspects of active treatment.
Completes GER’s.
Communicates with all departments in regard to any problems, concerns or questions.
Monitors the scheduling of doctor’s appointments and other appointments as needed.
Ensures safety techniques are followed to prevent injury to individuals served, staff and self.
Has knowledge of all unit programs and how they are run and recommends changes as needed.
Trains direct care staff in the proper procedure for carrying out programs (as required).
Follows activity schedules to avoid conflicts.
Attends all trainings, meetings, and committees as necessary.
Follows shift change procedures including completing shift reports.
Informs Program Supervisor, Program Director, Nursing, and Wing Supervisor of problems as they arise.
Communicates school and work absences with school and work.
Ensures equipment is sent to and returned from school and work.
Answers phone for entire facility when receptionist is not on duty.
Assists with scheduling.
Knowledgeable of electrical board and can use silencer as needed.
Promotes morale of all personnel and maintains a spirit of cooperation.
Provides direct care as needed.
Follows HIPAA and confidentiality policies.
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of human development, Developmental Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilities
Knowledgeable of supervisory practices and methods understanding of programmatic versus medical service model
Knowledgeable of community, social education and health agencies and the services they provide.
Ability to express oneself both verbally and in written form
Ability to lift from floor/carry/transfer individuals and adaptive equipment in excess of 50 pounds
Ability to carry/escort individuals in excess of 50 pounds and utilize behavior techniques during behavior problems
Ability to meet employment requirements (i.e. health screening, TB test)
Knowledge of behavior management principles and techniques
Knowledge of ICF/IDD regulations
Ability to plan, organize, and allocate resources creatively and cost-effectively.
Ability to create environment where staff are self-motivated
Ability to analyze information and situations systematically
Ability to lead by example, handle stress positively and assist others
Ability to interpret and enforce applicable regulations and standards
Ability to use computer to navigate and enter information into web-based software and perform basic functions related to computer use (i.e. keyboarding, email, data entry)
Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of HDC
Training and Experience:
High School diploma or GED
B.A. in human services field, preferred
Minimum of one year supervisory experience and experience in the field of developmental disabilities
