Job Description

Job Summary:To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. To help students facilitate learning through the use of art and establish and maintain instructional goals and objectives.

Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides art instruction for classes.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of principal.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Attends staff meeting and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Maintains professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work while encouraging and monitoring the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor'sdegree in teaching from an accredited institution
  • Standard Educator License from the Arkansas Department of Education
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state.
