Hall of Fame Village is Hiring a Grounds Manager Near Canton, OH

Description

Job Summary: 

The Grounds Manager is responsible for maintaining campus grounds and ensuring they are kept in “good show” condition as well as maintaining athletic fields used for various sport activities and events at the Hall of Fame Village, a subsidiary of the publicly traded Hall of Fame Resort & Entertainment Company (NASDAQ: HOFV, HOFVW).

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: 

  • Provide superior guest service to visitors, guests, clients, vendors, and staff. 
  • Assist preparing all synthetic turf fields including Tom Benson HOF Stadium, Sports Complex, and Center for Performance (9 fields) for games, matches, tournaments, and special events. 
  • Ensure that all campus grounds are kept clear of snow, ice, and other obstructions so that guests and staff have a safe & enjoyable experience. 
  • Identify, create, and enforce facility policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for field preparation for various games and events including knowledge of painting synthetic turf, removing paint from turf, field layout etc. 
  • Create, manage, and maintain relationships with various event groups and vendors for field needs, event execution, landscaping, grounds, turf needs, and proper maintenance. 
  • Maintain safety standards and branding guidelines required by various leagues like the NFL, FIFA, etc. 
  • Coordinate seamless operations execution processes with the support of relevant internal and external departments. 
  • Coordinate and perform various other light duty event and facility functions including and not limited to trash pick-up, building security, painting, and event set-up and tear-down. 
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls, inquiries and emails. 
  • Maintain comprehensive records as required. 
  • Execute operational contracts ensuring successful events. 
  • Work directly with the Events, Sales, and Services teams to ensure events are successful for clients.
  • Supervision of assigned staff, assuming day-to-day responsibilities for personnel related matters that include but are not limited to: 
  • Assist during interview process, onboarding, and training new hires. 
  • Complete annual performance reviews for all supervised staff. 
  • Provide continuous feedback, supervision, and coaching to all supervised staff. 
  • Formally discipline supervised staff in conjunction with Human Resources. 
  • Create and maintain schedule, assignments, and attendance. 
  • Approve time clocks and make adjustments as needed. 
  • Respond in a timely manner to calls, texts, inquiries, and emails. 
  • Enforce uniform protocol. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

FULL TIME/SALARY/EXEMPT POSITION

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Desired Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED. Associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ hospitality experience, preferably in management. 
  • Must have knowledge of and the ability to operate various pieces of equipment for grounds, landscaping, synthetic turf grooming, maintenance, cleaning, and painting. 
  • Must have knowledge of various event set up i.e. football, soccer, concerts, expos, private parties, and more.
  • Must have knowledge of synthetic turf safety standards required by sport leagues (NFL, FIFA, etc.) 
  • Strong team skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment; must possess a strong ability for effective time management and task prioritization. 
  • Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects and events. 
  • Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends & holidays as necessary) is required. 
  • Must be a flexible and reliable team player, both within own department and entire organization. 
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of performance, working quickly without compromising quality.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate uncompromised judgment and discretion regarding confidential matters while maintaining confidentiality.

Physical Requirements for Position: 

- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. 

- The ability to work in various Ohio weather conditions, inside and outside.

- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain, steps, or in construction zones. 

- The ability to see and respond to hazardous situations. 

- The ability to sit, stand, squat, and walk for periods of time as required for the position.

- Must be able to hear, see, and speak.

- Ability to comprehend instructions and retain information.

- Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties.

- Must be available to work in Canton, Ohio.
