Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills is Hiring an Operations Manager Near Manhattan, KS

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills by providing leadership to ensure excellence in and collaboration between all operational areas.

This role will support the following affiliate operations: Construction; Development; Finance; Homeowner Services; and ReStore.

The Operations Manager will collaborate with department managers, staff, and committee volunteers to enhance their programs, enabling the affiliate to serve more households. This position requires a highly organized, servant leader and creative problem solver deeply committed to and passionate about Habitat for Humanity's mission, vision and values.

Responsibilities:

Construction

The person in this role will collaborate with the construction manager and construction committee to:

  • Consistently deliver high-quality housing products, maximizing volunteer engagement and managing construction schedules and costs within established parameters.
  • Manage the home preservation project pipeline, ensuring projects are fully funded, completed to scope, and that construction schedules and costs are performed within established parameters by engaging volunteers.
  • Development

The person in this role will partner with the development committee and development team to:

  • Engage skills-based volunteers across all operations.
  • Develop skills training programs to recruit and retain volunteers across all operations.
  • Manage strategic communication efforts across platforms.
  • Coordinate neighborhood engagement activities, including Front Porch Conversations.
  • Coordinate key donor engagement activities, including events and campaigns.
  • Maintain an existing donor and volunteer database.
  • Engage the faith community in resource and community development activities.

Finance

The person in this role will work closely with the executive director and controller to ensure that financial and human resource management practices are aligned with organizational strategy and standards.

Homeowner Services

The person in this role will work closely with the homeowner services coordinator and homeowner services committee to:

  • Consistently deliver high-quality homebuyer experiences compliant with federal regulations and Habitat policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality homeowner experiences for those partners working with our home preservation program.
  • Ensure person-centered trauma-informed approaches are consistently applied when working with partners in Aging-in-Place and Veteran Build programs.
  • Coordinate partner availability and volunteer opportunities in Construction, Office, and ReStore operations.

ReStore

The person in this role will collaborate with the ReStore manager, staff and ReStore committee to:

  • Achieve annual sales and profitability targets.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality donor experiences through donation drop off and pickup.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality customer experiences through in-store experience and online promotion.
  • Develop deconstruction programming with deconstruction partners and community donors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

A successful candidate will:

  • Advance and find guidance in Habitat for Humanity’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Communicate effectively with a focus on process and priorities.
  • Practice leadership in supporting and holding others accountable to organizational priorities.
  • Document and evaluate processes to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across affiliate programs.
  • Evaluate digital management systems and onboard new technological systems when beneficial.
  • Seek and inspire continuous improvement across the organization through process and policy development.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred)
  • Master of Business Administration or Master of Public Administration (desired)
  • Project management experience (10 years desired)
  • Process mapping experience (preferred)
  • Change management experience (preferred)
  • Experience, paid or voluntary, working with a Habitat for Humanity affiliate or a comparable nonprofit organization

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

Typically, office-based with occasional work at construction sites and various event locations.
