Habitat for Humanity seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Our successful team has provided quality, affordable homes for 600 families in Vanderburgh and Posey Counties since 1984. Our affiliate is one of the top producing Habitat affiliates in the country. We are looking for a Director of Development who will lead all aspects of resource development to help the organization serve more families.

The Director of Development is a key member of the executive management team. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience achieving fundraising and marketing goals as well as experience managing and directing a high performing team.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Resource Development: This position will take the lead role in resource development and will partner with the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer to ensure Habitat has the financial resources necessary to carry out its mission through a variety of fundraising streams. The Director of Development will manage a portfolio of donors and supporters of Habitat. In addition, this position will work to engage the Board of Directors in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of existing and prospective supporters. This position will also monitor and evaluate development efforts and recommend adjustments as needed.

2. Marketing and Communications: This position will work with the Marketing and Public Relations Manager to create and implement a marketing and communications strategy which ensures the accuracy and consistency of messaging to advance the Habitat mission and position Habitat as a charity of choice. This position will also help create, implement, monitor and evaluate the communications plan.

3. Management: This position will lead the Development team consisting of a Major Gifts Officer(s), Corporate Relations and Events Manager, Faith Relations Manager, Marketing and Public Relations Manager, and Data Systems Manager. The Director of Development will also lead and guide volunteer committees including the Development Council and other volunteer efforts that advance development efforts. Further, the Director of Development will assure accurate reports of development efforts are made to the Board and staff.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in field associated with development such as fundraising, marketing, sales, communication/English, journalism, or a related field; CFRE or MPA preferred but not required

2. High personal character

3. Proven success in resource development

4. Ability to motivate a team

5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

6. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software

7. Excellent analytical and organizational skills

Compensation:

Salary range begins at $70,000, however salary is commensurate with experience, knowledge and prior success in development
