SUMMARY

The diversity coordinator monitors and assesses the progress of DEI initiatives based on the guidelines of the Vice President. Assist in the planning of events, newsletters, training initiatives, and workshops to foster an open and inclusive environment in accordance with workplace and project related initiatives. Will collaborate closely with the DEI team to help coordinate employee engagement and supplier diversity strategies. With the direction and guidance of the Vice President, the DEI Administrator will schedule events to promote DEI practices and maintain communication with each department (through official company websites, newsletters, or mailing lists). Displays and demonstrates passion as well as professional and personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong administrative and marketing skills.
  • Design DEI related Newsletters, DEI plans, and events specific to promote DEI initiatives within the workplace and various projects within the Construction and Program Management divisions.
  • Assess organizational efforts in support of the DEI program to carry forth best practices and identify initiatives and/or programs to remove barriers that affect inclusivity.
  • Maintain all MBE certification requirements, renewals, and new applications.
  • Researches, develops, and recommends creative strategies to foster diversity goals.
  • Assist with the development and execution of outreach events, workshops, lunch and learns, and seminars for the organization, project team, majority and minority subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the staff and project teams (where necessary).
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and execution to develop, implement and monitor diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Perform work in a safe manner and actively encourage others to do the same.

PROJECT RELATED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (IN COORDINATION WITH PROJECT TEAMS):

  • Responsible for assisting with the planning of supplier development initiatives such as outreach, strategy development & implementation.
  • Responsible for crafting the community outreach messages on behalf of the program to include newsletters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) in Business Management from a four-year college or university; 1-3 years related experience and/or training in DEI; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Should have a minimum of two relevant industry certifications.

Keep current with continuing education to maintain current level of responsibility.

Skills and Competencies required to perform tasks:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to the client, top management, and public groups.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Marketing background and event coordination is a plus.
