As the Assistant Controller at our Nissan car dealership in Kendall, you will be instrumental in managing various financial and accounting functions, including payroll and team management. Working closely with the Controller and other accounting team members, you will contribute to the dealership's financial success and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements adhering to company policies and accounting principles.
- Generate financial reports, providing insightful analysis on key performance indicators.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Conduct month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Payroll Management:
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with regulations.
- Collaborate with HR to address payroll-related inquiries and ensure proper documentation.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, especially in relation to payroll.
- Assist in coordinating external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Internal Controls:
- Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard financial assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Team Management:
- Help lead and supervise the accounting team, providing guidance and support for professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, providing financial expertise and support for business initiatives.
- Work closely with the Controller and other finance team members to achieve departmental goals.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the automotive industry, preferably with Nissan or other major car brands.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and payroll management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (CDK) and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
