CAP GROUP, LLC is Hiring a Communications Specialist Near New York, NY

The Healthcare Career Advancement Program (H-CAP) is a national Labor/Management organization that supports and promotes career ladder education for the healthcare workforce. H-CAP also staffs an affiliated 501 (c) (3) organization, the H-CAP Education Association (EA), focused on program and staff development of labor/management and union-based training partnerships in healthcare workforce development

H-CAP is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist to assist with building a communications program to support the organization’s work in the areas of workforce development, equity in the healthcare workforce, and Registered Apprenticeship. The Communications Specialist will work remotely with potential travel to meetings and conferences. The Communications Specialist is responsible for managing the organizations’ communications, keeping the organizations’ infrastructure running smoothly and spotting opportunities for new owned (social media, website, email) and earned (press) media content. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for monitoring activities organization-wide and ensure a coherent communications strategy.

The position is fully remote. The Communications Specialist must provide a place to work with minimal interruption. H-CAP provides laptop and all necessary equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with the H-CAP team to develop and implement programs and activities that support Board members and the H-CAP Education Association
  • Manage social media editorial calendar, content, posting, monitoring, and account presence
  • Create and edit external communications including helping to plan and write emails, writing and editing blog posts, uploading website content, and creating visual assets
  • Assist in identifying new opportunities to improve our communications, reach goals, and adapt to changing conditions
  • Other media relations support as needed, including drafting press releases and other media materials and identifying opportunities to pitch reporters
  • Support with communications training and consulting for staff and partners as needed
  • Support program work as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Skills and/or Experience Required

  • Commitment to racial, gender, economic justice
  • Familiarity with unions and labor/management education partnerships
  • Strong speaking, writing, and editing skills
  • Persistence, good follow-up, and a relationship-building orientation
  • Ability to balance, prioritize, and follow through on tasks for multiple projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly organized with impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal communication including in a remote work environment
  • Strong computer skills; ease with new technology and apps
  • Initiative and creativity to suggest strategic interventions or new approaches
  • Experience shaping, developing, or implementing a communications plan
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its workforce needs, including knowledge of Registered Apprenticeship
  • Experience with workforce development and adult education programs
  • Experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to travel to various locations nationally, including New York City and State, California, Chicago, Massachusetts, Seattle, D.C., Baltimore, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and other locations
