A Leading Personal Finance Company is Hiring a Remote Communications Specialist

HireArt is helping a personal finance company find an experienced Communications Specialist to support investing, banking, SMB and insurance verticals. This candidate will help develop strong relationships with partners across teams, understand the media and competitive landscape and develop/execute media campaigns.
In this role, you will report to the Communications Manager while working within a team environment that excels at keeping up with the latest newsworthy trends. This role also offers plenty of opportunity to build, grow and make an impact at a profitable and rapidly growing international company.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, PR, communications or marketing, and 4 years experience in PR/communications, with personal finance industry experience preferred. This candidate will also be an expert on current news/events, national/local media and overall financial trends.
As a Communications Specialist, you will:
  • Become a domain expert by understanding the investing, banking and insurance space while working with spokespeople/media to provide a competitive advantage.
  • Identify opportunities to position the company as a trusted resource for media/consumers.
  • Develop/maintain relationships with key media outlets, securing high-quality coverage on an ongoing basis.
  • Test new communications ideas and be a champion of innovation through experimentation.
  • Maintain strong spokespeople relationships and assist in building their authority/brand.
  • Work effectively in cross-functional teams to drive results, identifying issues with partners and working with your manager to resolve them.
  • Identify/develop pitch angles quickly based on news cycles and trends that are newsworthy, while developing PR tactics to position the company as a trusted expert.
  • Innovate by exploring opportunities to test and learn new ways to reach consumers and build the brand.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications, marketing or a related field
  • 4 years experience in PR or communications (agency or in-house experience is preferred, specifically in personal finance)
  • Familiar with digital PR and SEO basics
  • Experience with external communications
  • Knowledgable about current news/events, changes in national/local media and overall financial trends
  • Entrepreneurial with the ability to help build out a new business and communications program
  • Skilled at prioritizing/executing on multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • Thrives under pressure while maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teams
Commitment: This is a full-time, 5-month contract position staffed via HireArt. It is remote and available to U.S based candidates.
