What We Are Looking For

GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Mechanic Helper at the Western Operation Center in Seguin. As a Mechanic Helper, you will assist with general maintenance and repair of Cooperative fleet vehicles, equipment and trailers. Vehicles include cars, pickups, large utility trucks, tractors and off-road equipment.

How You’ll Help

• Maintain fleet using a preventative maintenance program to ensure safe and efficient operation of Cooperative vehicles to include mechanical and basic electrical
• Maintain detailed preventive maintenance record keeping
• Deliver and pick up vehicles and parts as needed

Experience/Skills You’ll Need

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and confidently
• Effective problem-solving skills, capable of troubleshooting minor issues independently
• Ability to effectively evaluate and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Self-motivation, a strong work ethic and impeccable integrity
• A team player accepting of constructive criticism to help evolve the team
• Ability to lift items 50 pounds on a regular basis and work in strained positions
• Must supply basic hand tools
• Must be capable of obtaining Class C TCEQ License for fueling station
• Must be capable of obtaining State Vehicle Inspection Certification
• Requires a high school diploma or GED
• Position will require overtime as necessary to maintain the fleet

Preferred Experience/Skills

• Metal fabrication and welding (Arc and Mig) experience
• Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, transmission maintenance and overhauls and hydraulic systems

Your Pay

The pay range for this role is 19.00 - $25.00/hr and will be commensurate based on your skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, GVEC ties cash bonuses to a multitude of Cooperative benchmarks set forth annually.
