Gurwin Healthcare System is a full continuum of care providing extraordinary care and caring to the people that we serve. Set on a 36-acre campus in Commack, NY, the Gurwin Healthcare System includes the 460-bed Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, providing short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, memory care, respiratory and ventilator care, palliative and hospice care, social and medical adult day programs, on-site dialysis and infusion therapy. Sharing the campus is Gurwin’s Assisted Living community (Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner Residences), our independent living community (Fountaingate Gardens) and Gurwin Certified and Licensed Home Care Services Agencies.

We are currently seeking a full-time Lead Housekeeper who will embody the passion and commitment required to promote our new endeavor and help community members as they learn about our proposed CCRC and make choices about their retirement future.

The Lead Housekeeper will be responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness of Fountaingate Gardens community and residences. Ensures all community areas are kept in an orderly manner, clean, and disenfected to the standards of the community and under guidance from the Executive Director. Establishes and maintains the hightes level of standard for community and residential cleanliness. Provides support to the Housekeeping and Environmental Engeneering team with guidance, coaching, and training as needed.

ØPerforms general housekeeping duties in all community spaces including bathrooms, amenity spaces, and residential units.

ØEstablishes cleaning schedule and assigned staff while guiding all staff on cleaning protocol and standards for assigned work areas.

ØCleans all office spaces according to agreed upon schedule by the Director of Environmental Engineering or designee.

ØMaintains all equipment and supplies needed while communicating defects immediately to the Director of Environmental Engineering.

ØFollows all infection control policies while provided innovative solutions and best practices as needed.

ØMeets all training and on-going education requirements at all times.

ØAssists in all other departments when needed or as applicable to job duties, to ensure overall resident satisfaction is met and maintained at all times.

ØProvides clear guidance on cleanliness of all department areas, supporting standards or housekeeping services as determined fit.

ØAble to manage multiple requests and tasks at a time with varying needs.

ØPerforms all other duties as requested or required.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications

ØHigh School graduate or equivalent. Ability to understand and follow instructions while demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.

ØMust be able to work varying hours and flexible to community needs.

Specific Requirements

ØComplexityAble to plan and prioritize work duties under the direction o the Director of Environmental Engineering while independently initiating all tasks and maintaining a high level of work in a fast-paced environment.

Constant contact with residents, guests, peers, and others requires the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally. Must maintain a positive and productive, courteous, and cooperative manner at all times.
Will be exposed to highly confidential information, demonstrate confidentiality, and only disclose with the Director of Environmental Engineering or others specifically directed by the Executive Director. Able to follow directives from administration or the Director of Environmental Engineering without close supervision.
