Gurnee Park District is Hiring a Member Services FT - Hunt Club Near Gurnee, IL

Under the direction and supervision of the Member Services Supervisor, this position performs various clerical functions outlined in the duties and responsibilities area listed below. This is a front-line position in one of the most central areas of the Park District requiring multi-tasking abilities. This position’s weekly schedule is as follows: Tuesday-Saturday, Tue.-Thu. 12:30pm-8:30pm, Fri.-11:30am-7:30pm, and Sat.- 6:45a-2:45p.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Answer the telephone in a timely and courteous manner with messages dispatched promptly.
  • Greet customers and guests promptly in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist customers and answer inquiries regarding program registration, memberships, facilities, facility rentals, parks, etc.
  • Enter registrations and payments in a timely fashion.
  • Handle all Point-of-Sale transactions and ensure the cash drawer is balanced and prepare the end of day report.
  • Adhere to all aspects of opening, closing, and normal operational procedures.
  • Responsible for all aspects of membership and registration processes utilizing VSI registration software and related reporting.
  • Receive all scholarship applications, ensure that all documentation is complete, and then communicate the application status after management review.
  • Survey members and participants in all programming areas on a scheduled basis, track responses and individually respond to those who request contact.
  • Seek service and process improvements by monitoring data, customer feedback, staff recommendations and by teaming with recreation and other department teams.
  • Operate various office equipment to print, copy, scan, and fax documents. Keep inventory of office supplies and orders.
  • Maintain Front Desk daily operations, manuals, documents, forms, printouts, and clerical duties.
  • Assist with Front Desk staff training.
  • Assist all departments as needed.
  • Monitor all Front Desk/Gym Activities.
  • Assist with the execution of the Gurnee Days weekend event. This event is the second full weekend in August each year.
  • Portray a positive image of the Park District to customers and guests by complying with Park District customer service standards or SOFIE. An ambassador role.
  • Responsible for complying with the general policies and procedures of the Park District.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Gurnee Park District Team Mission, Vision, and SOFIE Values.
  • Take all steps necessary to maintain a safe environment in the Fitness Center.
  • Read and understand the Park District General Safety Rules and Safety Policy Statement.
  • Must check and respond to work/schedule-related communications in a timely fashion.
  • Attend team meetings as scheduled held on either Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings which meet quarterly.
  • Coordinate with Member Services Supervisor and other staff to ensure full coverage is maintained at the front desk.
  • Perform other Park District related functions as requested.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires an open availability which should include early mornings, daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays at times. Must have flexibility to work additional hours if needed.

  • Experience: Two years of customer service and/or sales related experience required, preferably in an office, recreation, health club, hospitality, or related environment.
  • Education: High School diploma is required.
  • Skills and Competencies: Ability to consistently communicate in a friendly, professional fashion with employees and patrons both in person and on the telephone. Must consistently demonstrate good public relations and tact and manage multiple tasks. This position requires the ability to obtain and retain a thorough knowledge of the district’s recreation programs, memberships, and facilities. Patience must be demonstrated in a continuous manner when working with the public and fellow employees.
  • Certifications: Current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications are required or ability to obtain them within sixty days of hire date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this position are minimal. Most of your job will be at a desk. Occasionally movement of deliveries will be needed with a maximum weight of 25 lbs.
