JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Scrub Technician and Central Sterile Operator assist surgeons during operative and other invasive procedures. They work closely with the surgeons and circulating nurse to ensure smooth processes for procedures, including prep and take-down work in the OR, before and after procedures. They are responsible to pull supplies and instruments needed for the surgical cases, maintain a sterile field, and clean and reprocess the instruments and equipment. Acts as an advocate for the hospital in their respective communities and adhere to the hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Motto of “The Patient is First in all We Do.”

The Scrub Tech/Central Sterile Operator is closely involved with the logistics necessary to create a smooth process for operations in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to carry, climb, hear/listen, lift, reach and manipulate objects, tools, or equipment, push/pull, see, speak, squat/kneel, stand, and walk. Heavy physical exertion is also required as duties involve moving materials weighing 10 – 20 pounds continually, and 25 – 50 pounds on an occasional basis, along with lifting patients, for patient care. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 80% of the work period. Work involves the potential for exposure to infectious. This position requires mobility. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
