ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the staff of the Finance Department, provide critical financial operating support for all of the County government’s mission critical services. This role directs, organizes, and plans all aspects of financial management activities for the County while also serving as the County’s statutorily designated Finance Officer.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Finance Department administers and manages County financial affairs in compliance with laws and regulations and in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles. The department maintains a high standard of performance through adopting best practices, assimilating technology advances, and empowering its professional staff. This enables the department to absorb the continually increasing volume of operating transactions, information resources, and regulatory requirements. Guilford County is currently rated AAA (S&P), AAA (Moody’s), and AAA (Fitch) for all outstanding general obligation bonded debt issues.
There are 29 full-time employees split across three main divisions and functions of the Finance Department: Cash & Debt Management, Financial Reporting & Monitoring, and General Accounting. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the major finance functions for a large local government entity, experience in local government finance, and/or government audit experience in a medium to large CPA firm as well as an active CPA certificate.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The starting salary for the CFO is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience within a range of $123,617 to $195,937. May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
