Job Purpose:
As a Mechanical Designer with Guidon Design, you will be creating high-quality construction documents and design details, supporting senior engineers, and traveling to job site for on-site construction administration and site inspections to assess the quality of work. You will play a critical role in ensuring that buildings have safe and efficient systems that meet local building codes and regulations. This position will have overall responsibilities for the mechanical design of a project and will work closely with our other Engineering and Architecture disciplines on project deliverables.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
3-7 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
Skills/Qualities:
Strong experience preparing construction documents using discipline specific software (i.e. Trane Trace 3D/700, Carrier HAP, Revit, AutoCAD, etc.). Full production modeling is not required.
Comfortable with Microsoft based programs, such as Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
Proactive and assertive in problem solving, works well with teams.
Willing to manage parallel assignments and multi-task when and where appropriate.
Strong work ethic and a drive to exceed project and discipline expectations.
Eagerness to learn more about mechanical systems.
Responsibilities:
Support Team Leaders, Project Managers, Designers, and Engineers with drawing development.
While primary responsibility will be in mechanical discipline, assist in the following disciplines and sub-disciplines: Fire Suppression, Plumbing, Medical Gas, and HVAC (ductwork piping).
Assist in developing BIM related templates, standards, schedules, and details in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) Department.
Possess familiarity with designing mechanical systems.
Coordination within a multi-disciplinary and multi-department project team.
Plan, focus, and complete tasks on hand.
Evaluation Metrics:
Solve problems proactively.
Follow-up on commitments
Be willing to do small/large tasks.
Work accurately
Develop technical skills and learn from past projects.
Professional Development/Technical Education & Training:
Work with Director and Sr. Engineers to develop personalized goals and growth path.
