Architecture Healthcare Planner

Primary Purpose:

The Architecture Healthcare Planner is responsible to lead technical planning projects for entire campuses and/or major construction projects for the federal government. Guidon is well established doing healthcare planning work for the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Defense Health Agency Clients. The position will work closely with firm leadership and the Healthcare Practice leader to institute/redefine Guidon standards on planning.
Qualifications:

Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture
Experience working on/in healthcare systems.
Experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to execute design/construction projects.
Advanced knowledge of healthcare adjacencies, department planning criteria, design process understanding, cross discipline knowledge and collaboration.
Expertise in professional design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Photoshop.
Ability to mentor, provide guidance and be a professional educator for junior healthcare and architectural staff
A strong work ethic and a drive to exceed client expectations.
A team oriented professional willing to invest in their future.

Skills / Qualities:

Experience conducting early healthcare project planning and programming.
Experience applying LEAN principles to healthcare operations and healthcare design.
Communication: Ability to effectively communicate, both graphically, written & orally, with a variety of stakeholders, including employees, clients, leadership, and government officials.
Proactive and assertive in problem-solving
EDAC (Evidence based accreditation and certification)
Ability to lead client design meetings.

Responsibilities:

Lead the technical development of multi-disciplinary campus healthcare planning projects.
Establish project schedules, tasks and milestones to accomplish long-term planning projects.
Support marketing efforts to secure planning projects through solicitation responses, interviews and client meetings.
Plan and facilitate design meetings, that culminate in recommended long-term campus plans for expanding healthcare services through design/construction projects.
Develop space programs and provide input on functional department layouts and adjacencies.
Represent the Firm with regard to design and design process-related issues to diverse stakeholders.
Engage and support staff development and mentoring through project engagement, staff training and education.
Travel would be required to client healthcare sites. Position can be virtual.
