If your people skills are as good as your puppy skills, then consider joining the team at Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) as a Puppy Raising Field Manager (PFM). Based at our Boring, OR Campus, you will be responsible for the training of new puppy raising volunteers including volunteer leaders, coordinating puppy care on campus, and supporting the PFM team overall to teach and apply the canine training and socialization skills needed to raise healthy, happy GDB puppies.

It’s rewarding, hands-on work, supporting our hybrid, satellite and traditional puppy raising clubs, as you ensure our volunteers have what they need to successfully raise GDB puppies.

We’ll also rely on you to identify, recruit, and train potential new puppy raising volunteers, as well as assist with fundraising, marketing, outreach, and public relations initiatives and events. This role is based on our Boring, OR campus, with a hybrid/flexible schedule to accommodate the variety of puppy raising roles you will support.

The qualifications you’ll need:

  • 2 years of experience in assessing dogs’ health, temperaments, and behaviors, as well as conducting dog training, behavior modification, and placement
  • Knowledge of canine behavior management, with the ability to assess and evaluate raisers to give them appropriate guidance
  • 2 years of supervisory experience or experience leading classes and instructing others is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit volunteers and identify potential programs and resources within their community
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability at non-risk rates
  • Canine behavior certification preferred (IAABC, ACAB, CCPDT, UW-AAB or KPA)
