Description

GOH is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are looking for an energetic new team member experienced in STEM education to support our NASA OSTEM client.

Job Objective:

The MUREP Project Support Specialist serves as the first line of contact for all communications, calls and emails requesting support from the Project Management Office (PMO). The Project Specialist works across MUREP activities where necessary providing surge support, special events coordination, materials coordination for speaking engagements and coordination with IT Services. Provides website content update reviews and coordination with IT services. Provides support to team in terms of creating and maintaining spreadsheets, weekly and monthly project status reports, briefings, and materials. The Specialist maintains PMO tools and platforms that aid in facilitation of information sharing (i.e. – SharePoint site, Teams Channels, and other documents) This role also coordinates schedules for MUREP Leadership and between the MUREP Project Management team and the larger MUREP community, schedules and maintains virtual and physical meeting spaces, supports information services coordination. Manages scheduling coordination, 90 Day Calendars, safety, and technical requirements of the office, and provides official records management. Provides support to PMO office for distribution of information to the MUREP community. This role is also responsible for providing dedicated customer service to clients by executing event planning processes that deliver client needs and expectations. Along with improving on past performance with returning clients, this position’s detailed, high-quality, on-time completion of tasks, sets up GOH for new and recurring business.

Background: The Office of STEM Engagement is strengthening involvement with educational institutions to ensure that NASA can meet future workforce needs in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, (STEM). The Office of STEM Engagement seeks to foster the high-quality engagement of students, faculty and minority serving institutions and the broader community in NASA’s missions and research.

MUREP supports minority serving institutions (MSIs) to help lead and innovate in building a resilient supply chain ecosystem. President Biden writes in his Executive Order on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce, “A growing body of evidence demonstrates that diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplaces yield higher-performing organizations” (2021). By putting MSIs at the forefront of the effort, MUREP hopes to design a future in aerospace industry that includes the innovation and achievements of a diverse workforce. In addition, MUREP seeks to address gender disparity and barriers in STEM college programs and the workforce.

Essential Functions:

  • Support and manage communications, calls, and emails requesting support for the MUREP project office
  • Coordinate scheduling for senior federal leadership
  • Support information services coordination and scheduling of spaces
  • Assist in planning and facilitating meetings and convenings for senior federal staff
  • Provide support for special events, coordinate details, support material development
  • Support website content updates
  • Monitor project timelines and task allocations - updating management tools with status for assigned activities in real time
  • Coordinate and collaborate across team to assure that all work products content and functionality are of highest quality and informed with up-to-date information
  • Develop SOPs and QC procedures; and update to reflect efficiencies, best practices, and lessons learned
  • Contributes to client progress and status reports (i.e., monthly reports, weekly registration metrics, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain project file folders with all completed work products, artifacts, and deliverables
  • Contribute to quality control process - to include peer review of work products and coordinating QC of deliverables
  • Document quality control of work products and deliverables prior to delivery to client and/or management
  • Stay up to date on necessary technology and processes and show initiative in capturing, documenting, and implementing best practices and lessons learned to improve quality and efficiency of services and solutions

Requirements

Competency (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of services and best practices for minority serving institutions and other underserved and underrepresented groups
  • Strong communication skills – technical writing, visual presentation development, 508 compliance, and accessibility
  • Knowledge of and skill in executing project management principles, methods, and practices to develop plans, schedules, and report accomplishments
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, perspective, and all aspects of work
  • Demonstrates the ability to plan and maintain control of time spent on specific tasks, with intent to work smarter, not harder
  • Demonstrates proficient written and verbal communication skills in daily communication, client interaction, and work products
  • Able to work individually and with others to achieve project and organizational goals
  • Understands and follows company standards to deliver consistent and predictable results
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, lead, and manage projects to deliver desired outcomes
  • Must have advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, etc.), Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Collaboration Software (WebEx, Teams, Google Docs, etc.), preferred experience with NASA Gateway Site

Work Environment: This position is in a remote/office setting. Hybrid work at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC is required, typically on Wednesdays and during events.

Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing.

Position type and expected hours of work: This is a part-time nonexempt position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday, 20-30 hours per week. Some job activities may be required outside of typical workdays/hours. 

Travel: 20% local and regional travel, with overnight stays necessary

Required education and experience: Bachelor’s degree

Additional eligibility qualifications: A minimum of 4 years of industry-specific experience required
