Pre-K Lead Teacher 

The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serves 1600 students ranging from PreK-12 and is a free, open-enrollment public charter school. Over 92% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School, Guadalupe Centers Middle School, and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers’ educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Our roots in our community run deep.

Summary:

To create a flexible program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth. To establish effective rapport with students. To motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education in accordance with each student’s ability. To establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Report To: Director of Pre-K

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and implement curriculum and assessment.
  • Supervise and develop any support classroom staff and manage the day-to-day operations in the classroom.
  • Observe and document children’s learning and development on an ongoing and consistent basis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the theories of child growth and early childhood education and family support. 
  • Promote and support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Lead the teaching team in planning and implementing curriculum and assessment.
  • Provide individualized attention to the children in order to enhance their development of cognitive and language skills.
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate early learning environment with attention to standards of health, safety, organization, and aesthetics.
  • Lead and model professionalism and teamwork within the teaching team and the program.
  • Develop and maintain supportive, professional relationships with the children and their families to enhance parent education, communication, involvement, and advocacy
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children and parents. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations. 
  • Committed to working with under-served students.
  • Ability to maintain a positive relationship with children.
  • Excellent skills in classroom management.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Missouri State Certification in Early Childhood Education.
  • 2 to 4 years experience working in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability, English required and Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities.
  • Able to maintain attention and a high level of energy or excitement for extended periods of time.
