Description
GT Midwest is a family owned and operated business going strong for over 75 years! We are looking to add a Product Procurement Sourcing Specialist to the team. This role has the primary responsibility to demonstrate efficient and effective processing of requests for quote (RFQ) and all sourcing activity for GT Midwest customers, with the goal of converting these into new sales. The Product Procurement Sourcing Specialist will work closely with purchasing, sales, management, and suppliers and must be effective in interacting with diverse groups as we work for the same cause – increased sales and profitability.

Necessary Skills:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ability to create, follow and enforce the use of effective processes
· Interact effectively with Sales and customers in order to fully understand requests for quotes
· Interact and negotiate effectively with suppliers to obtain favorable quotations for GT Midwest, including but not limited to unit pricing, freight allowed, delivery dates
· Recommend products for customer applications
· Assist sales effort by sourcing new items and obtaining quotes from existing and new vendors
· Cultivate relationships with suppliers, influence them to cooperate to benefit GT Midwest
· Assist Buyers in resolving discrepancies between vendor quotes and invoices
· Document activities in GT’s CRM system
· Take incoming sales calls as necessary
· Provide formal quotations to the sales team for presentation to the customer (pricing decided by Sales)
· Track/follow up with sales staff on open customer quotes
· Coordinate with the entire PSS team on a daily basis to promote knowledge and coordinate activities
· Handle and negotiate price increases and work to identify and optimize buying opportunities from vendors
· Initiate part number setup on awarded quotations
· Cultivate relationships with the sales staff and communicate with them regularly to discuss costing, samples, vendor preferences, and quotation options
· Coordinate and/or participate in any new programs, crib crawls, and lunch and learns
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Familiarity with Fastener sourcing both foreign & domestic. Low-Cost Country sourcing and logistics of fabricated parts a plus. Strong oral, written, and presentation and negotiation skills. Excellent computer skills. Outstanding organizational skills. Creative problem solving. Basic financial management skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data including MRP reports and blueprints/drawings. Requires advanced written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and customers via oral presentations and written documentation.
COMPUTER SKILLS
PSS’s regularly use Microsoft Office products, GT’s ERP system, and a CRM system.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
PSS’s must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. These skills are necessary in many aspects of the job. Certain Product Categories may require more advanced knowledge of geometry, engineering, and federal regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit, all for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Very high energy, sometimes stressful or demanding deadlines and deliverables.
LOCATION
This position will be physically located in our North Kansas City division.
