Commercial Roofing Sheet Metal Installer/Apprentice

The position is working with a crew installing sheet metal products on roofs and walls on outdoor construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Understand and maintain GSM Services standards, policies, and procedures
• Maintain GSM Services attendance requirements
• Maintain proper conduct and dress code. Represent GSM Services in a professional manner
• Have a positive attitude and work to promote a positive work environment with all co-workers
• Follow all GSM Services and OSHA safety regulations. Assist in awareness of the job-site safety program and identify any job-site concerns
• Follow all directions given by the immediate leader (Roofing Sheet Metal Team Leader) as it relates to job production
• Learn and gain skill in working to meet the standards and application quality set by GSM Services for the installation of sheet metal roofing
• Demonstrate ability to carry out directions given by the immediate leaders as it relates to job-site production
• Assist in organizing and placement of job-site materials
• Assist in determining all equipment is in safe working order. Report the condition of equipment to the immediate leader and ensure equipment is taken to the appropriate repair location
• Assist in maintaining appropriate housekeeping standards at both the job-site and the GSM Services facility
• Maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
• Maintain a current GSM Services forklift operator certification
• Maintain basic hand tools as required by Leader
• Obtain additional certifications as required for lifts, lulls, and other equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Good physical condition and good balance
• Must be 18 years of age
• Cannot have a fear of heights
• Must be able to withstand hot, strenuous, and dirty conditions.
• High school education or equivalent
• Possess the ability to read and write English to a HS level
• Have mechanical and mathematical ability
• The position involves climbing ladders, working in man lifts, working at heights on roofs
• Experience with hand and power tools
• Possess the physical capabilities required for commercial roofing, including but not limited to lifting(up to 75 lbs) , stooping bending, material handling, ladder climbing, awareness of height exposure and the capacity to work in adverse weather conditions
