POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Regional Purchasing Manager, under the direction of the Director of Purchasing, strategically manages, measures, and monitors the performance of assigned Buyers and the overall procurement process. They will coordinate with Sales, and various leadership throughout the Organization, to drive Company initiatives and will be responsible for ensuring their assigned buyers meet the achievement of established benchmark goals and objectives.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Leads assigned team of Buyers and directs staff in carrying out procurement strategies; manages, motivates and develops the assigned team as measured by customer order fulfillment.
· Manages assigned Buyers, including performance management, hiring, firing, professional development, strategy communication and reinforcement of Stellar Service objectives through the order fulfillment process.
· Establishes and executes training curriculum to provide continued education to Buyers.
· Drives, monitors and measures fill rates, aged inventory as well as other inventory management processes. Continuously pursues improved customer satisfaction.
· Monitors and analyzes inventory trends and provides guidance to Buyers to capitalize on cost saving opportunities while balancing customer requirements, expectations and providing for complete customer satisfaction.
· Accountable for communicating and being a pro-active liaison among the buying teams, the DC teams and the sales teams regarding all aspects of procurement activities and processes.
· Responsible for ensuring process clarity, consistency and resolving any internal challenges within the Organization.
· Conducts supplier evaluations, communicates results and works with suppliers to improve overall performance. Responsible for tracking, reporting and troubleshooting of assigned supplier non-conformance and service level performance improvement opportunities.
· Liaison between Information Systems Department, Database Manager and Buyers to optimize database integrity and system functionality.
· Communicate a strong sense of urgency in creative problem solving and getting work done.
· Ensure time, resource and action of the Sales Team is focused on priorities that contribute to meeting customer needs and business goals and objectives.
· Work to create an environment that values and rewards drive, initiative and achievement of results.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Advanced Excel (Formatting, Formulas (VLOOKUP), Pivot Tables, etc.)
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment while providing timely and accurate turnaround on tasks given.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to make sound decisions.
· Advanced communication and organizational skills
· Flexible to work long hours and travel, as needed.
· Goal oriented and self-motivator; ability to meet or exceed goals and objectives.
EDUCATION/EXPIERENCE:
· High School diploma required.
· Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in purchasing, material management, supply chain or related field.
· 5-10 years of purchasing experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a Buyer role, within the food industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Professional office environment. Primary office environment is ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
