Job Summary:The forklift operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise in a food warehouse environment. The operator must ensure the safe and efficient operation of the forklift while adhering to all warehouse procedures and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials.
Perform routine pre- and post-inspections on forklift equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including forklifts and warehouse spaces.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and observing traffic rules within the warehouse.
Assist in inventory control by accurately counting and recording merchandise as it is moved.
Communicate effectively with warehouse supervisors and team members to coordinate tasks and maintain workflow.
Report any forklift malfunctions or safety concerns to management immediately.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and hygiene.
Participate in training programs and meetings to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned by warehouse management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid forklift operator certification/license or at least 6 months of prior experience.
Proven experience operating a forklift in a warehouse or similar environment, preferably in the food industry.
Ability to safely lift and move heavy objects and operate equipment in tight spaces.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in counting and recording inventory.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and practices.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and reporting.
Physical Requirements:Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds.Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.Comfortable working in a refrigerated or freezer environment.
Schedules Available:Wednesday-Monday: 7am-4pm overtime as needed. Starting at $15.00/hour
