Our client, a large utility, is looking for candidates to receive paid-training as Control Room Reactor Operators (RO) at their plants near Oswego, NY. Compensation is of up to $128K/year to start, plus a sign-on bonus, annual bonus, license-holding bonus, and other incentives. You will earn an additional $20K/year or more upon successful completion of obtaining your Reactor Operator license certification.

Through classroom, simulator, and on-the-job experiences, you will develop the required skills and knowledge to first qualify as a nuclear Reactor Operator (RO) and then eventually obtain a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license certification which will qualify you to become an Operations Shift Supervisor in the future. Process will include classroom (w/study time) as well as simulator and field work.
If you qualify to start in the SRO training program you will have shown managerial skills. This can be found in the resume, references and other means. Senior Reactor Operators pay starts at $138K.
Requirements:

• 6 months as a Nuclear Equipment or Auxiliary Operator,
• Or/ 3 years’ experience in a commercial nuclear power plant's Operations Department or/
• Or/ a related position on a sea bound or land-based military power plant
• Or/ 3 years as an Auxiliary Operator (non-Nuclear)
• Ability to pass the utility's PRE-EMPLOYMENT TESTS; "The Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) test" which is an exam designed to assess your aptitude and skills in relation to power plant operations, as well as their Math & Science test. These are pre-employment tests that must be successfully passed before your hire!,
• Ability to successfully complete medical screening criteria.
• SRO candidates will need the same background plus:
  • 5 years in the Navy
  • Graduated from Navy Nuke school 18 months long
  • Shown leadership skills and been given leadership duties

Responsibilities:

• Attend initial reactor operator licensing class with the intent of attaining an SRO License by completing ILT Fundamentals, Systems and Simulator Phases,

• After obtaining certification: Project work, outage assignments, or duties as assigned to support the site operations,

* Salary: $120,000 with bonuses to start RO Licensing ILT training. Salary increases to $140,000 with bonuses after obtaining RO license, then will increase substantially after obtaining an SRO license.
