Summary/Objective

Prepress is assigned to the dark room for preparing jobs for all printing lines. Knowledge with different types of mesh screens, artwork rendering, proper placement of art verified prior to printing. Prepress Technician is responsible for ensuring production silk screens are prepped and ready for production. Must have good judgment to perform complicated tasks and work without constant supervision. Other important traits include self-motivation, organizational skills and the ability to work with a team.

• Safety - Maintain safe and appropriate use of all machinery at all times in the prepress room. 
• Project Management - Communicate with Team Leader, Shift Leader and Director of Production regarding weekly schedule for production.
• Maintenance - Maintain equipment used in the prepress room to ensure longevity of machines. ie Uni-kote, I-Image, StarLight Exposure system, Drying oven, etc.
• Abide by all safety standards in the prepress room and when in the reclamation area. Maintain communication with Reclamation Specialist about various projects.
• Set up - Preparing Team Leaders with projects by priority. 
• Properly use and navigate a computer. Maintain and update schedules that are on the computer to give real time information to the production facility.

Requirements

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.
• Certificate of diploma in electronic prepress operations
• Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience 

Preferred Education and Experience

• Previous work experience operating an automatic screen printing machine
• Better than average written and spoken communication skills
• Prepress experience a plus
• Troubleshooting prepress issues

 Supervisory Responsibility

No - Prepress Technician reports to Shift Leader

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Reclamation Specialist must show caution when working on or around moving mechanical parts/machines, pallets, packaged goods. The Reclamation Specialist is exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the warehouse, warm weather can increase temperatures in the workplace. Noise levels are high due to machinery, dryers, music and personnel.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stand for up to 8 hours; kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be working with water and chemicals.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. 40 hours per week. Hours vary depending on shift.
