Assistant Project Manager

Reports To: Mechanical Service Manager

Location: Oak Creek, WI

Job Description:

Assist Project Managers in daily tasks of running inspections, service calls and small projects which includes estimating, design, task planning, project completion, client satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned projects. We expect the successful candidate to focus on technical training and development to execute projects successfully. Opportunities include participation in customer relationships, selling company services, interacting with company leaders and ultimately, additional project management & leadership responsibilities. This position will work in the Mechanical Service Division, specializing in HVAC, plumbing, underground utilities, control automation, electrical, and service repair work.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Manager’s to handle project coordination & project controls
  • Complete project correspondence (i.e. RFI’s, Submittals, Logs, change orders, etc.)
  • Assist with estimating and design
  • Assist with coordinating and executing all contractual, design drawings, and project specifications
  • Manage project scheduling and planning
  • Assist with equipment and material purchase activities
  • Assist with subcontract procurement
  • With Project Manager(s), develop and track project quality processes
  • General understating of job finances
  • Track costs, including analysis and forecasts
  • Project Management training typically completed within 2 years
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

Specific Requirements:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (copier/printer, etc.)
  • Open cube office work environment, noise level – quiet to moderate; fast pace
  • Ability to learn and work within accounting software COINS

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years PM or Project Coordinator experience OR 2-3 years Industry experience(HVAC, plumbing, underground utilities, control automation, electrical, or service repair work)
  • Self-motivated and motivator of others
  • Assertive with a progressive, positive attitude
  • Accountable for making decisions and recommendations which can greatly affect profitability of assigned areas
  • General knowledge of building services and construction projects
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to prioritize based on what is best for the company
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • Detail oriented
  • Effective communication, written, verbal, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve the Company’s overall goals
  • Ability to “think outside the box” and encourage creative thinking in others
  • Significant independent judgment skills
  • Interested in personal and professional growth and willing to personally invest in development

Pay Range:Pay depends on your level of experience and education
