Position Title: Seasonal Day Camp Counselor

Department: Camp

Reports to: Camp Director Camp Supervisor

Supervises: None

Position Summary: The position is responsible for supervising members' children and facilitating a summer activity program from June to August each year, with training beginning in late May. Work will generally be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions.

Employment Status: Seasonal employees can expect a consistent schedule from (approximately) April to October each year. Each October, employees are allowed to submit requests to transition to either part-time or full-time status. The approval of these requests will be based on the needs of the Club and the employee's performance track record. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent in appropriate experience preferred
• Two or more years of experience in a similar position preferred
• Ability to work scheduled hours, Monday to Friday
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Lifting, bending, twisting, reaching, crouching, and crawling throughout the course of the job
• Being on your feet for an extended period of time
• CPR Certification preferred (will also be provided)
• Lifeguard Certification preferred

Job Duties:

• Serves as a positive role model by:
  • Adhering to the same standards of service and behavior that peers are required to uphold
  • Demonstrating effective communication skills through various digital platforms utilized by the Club
  • Maintaining a positive and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Working with peers to meet the needs of the team
  • Representing the Club well in its relationships with members and vendors

• Continually provides services in the areas of:
  • Engaging with members and their children who are participating in the Day Camp summer program
  • Attending to children's basic needs
  • Facilitating games and other activities for small and large groups each week, including but not limited to crafts, outdoor recreational sports, teamed relays, team-building games, songs, etc.
  • Enforcing safety protocols and procedures at all times while working to identify and respond to camper behavioral and safety issues
  • Maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, medical release forms, daily attendance records, and daily log entries
  • Maintaining Lost and Found items
  • Assisting in the set-up and tear-down of lunch and various camp activities

• Assumes responsibility for the department by:
  • Assisting supervisors in maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Maintaining the appearance and organization of all areas used throughout the Club
  • Communicating with supervisors and peers concerning ongoing projects
