Groome Transportation is Hiring a Dispatcher Near Houston, TX
Dispatchers respond to passenger inquiries via phone, provide excellent customer service to clients. Responsible for directly monitoring, coordinating and overseeing the daily scheduled route operation of the vehicle. Must have excellent customer service skills and be proficient in general office duties.
Role and Responsibilities
- Answer customer inquiries
- Communicate closely with on duty supervisors
- Check road conditions/accidents on major routes and assess re-route possibilities
- Direct drivers on the radio about reroutes and accidents
- Monitor Doublemaps closely
- Manage lost and found items by logging them on the dispatch log
- Inform Operations and Management of any vehicular accidents
- Advise Operations, Fleet Manager if vehicle goes down and arrange replacement service
- Secure drivers if a driver calls off on a scheduled run and notify Assistant Director or Director of Ops.
- Keep track and log all breaks and ADA pick-ups.
- Update dispatch logs for next shift
- Sort DVIRs accordingly daily
- Perform other duties as required
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 – 2 years previous customer service or dealing with the public
- 1 year handling multiple phone lines
- Software experience with Word, Excel, and Outlook and other Internet applications
- Must pass pre-employment drug test
- Complete pre-employment background check
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
