ESTIMATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:

Ideal candidates will be extremely knowledgeable in metal fabrication. They will possess extensive experience reading blueprints with an ability to interpret specifications and tolerances to prepare fabrication estimates. This is a full time or part time position for our Waterbury, CT facility.

Responsibilities:

• Compute costs of materials, purchased items, fabrication processes including qualifications, and time requirements.
• Analyze RFQ requirements, technical drawings, associated specifications.
• Solicit and collect material costs, including alternate and breakdown pricing.
• Identify optimal material utilization and fabrication methods.
• Establish fabrication rates and options for fabrication methods.
• Maintain metrics related to quality and timeliness of estimates and win/loss ratios.
• Correspond with sales representatives, architects, contractors and engineers to obtain missing information and recommend change/substitution to improve cost & lead time.
• Performs other related work for completion of job history and file.

Qualifications:

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to work through the bid process; addressing customer needs and requests, and balancing business needs.
• Strong attention to detail; ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.
• Must have at least three (3) years of experience in the same or similar role.
