GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Greenville Technical College- Radiologic Technology Program is designed for student success with a balanced curriculum, including both radiology and general education courses. The program is housed on the Barton Campus in the School of Health Sciences and students participate in clinic throughout hospitals in upstate South Carolina. The associate degree program is fully accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education (JRCERT). The faculty assist students with course content specific to the role of the radiologic technologist, to include standard precautions, patient care, positioning skills and observation. The four full-time provide the students with a strong background in the use of radiologic equipment, positioning, physics, patient care, and imaging. The faculty instructs students through direct, hands-on patient care experience in various hospitals and facilities throughout his/her clinical education. The faculty is an integral part of the success of our students by creating a stimulating and welcoming learning environment.

The radiologic technologist fills the role of a responsible health care practitioner in a growing and rapidly changing medical field of both acute and chronic patient care. Growth and commitment to optimum Radiologic Technology is the foremost goal. The other primary objective of this program is to fill the need for radiologic technologists and to build and maintain a progressive Radiologic Technology profession for the members of the community. On average, the program has 2 cohorts of students (1st year and 2nd year students) averaging 30-60 students annually. Students graduating from the Radiologic Technology Program are eligible to take ARRT certification exam upon completion of the program. Upon successful completion of ARRT examination, graduates are awarded the Registered Radiologic Technologist credential.

In this challenging role, you will support the Radiologic Technology function for Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

  • Clinic supervision
  • Clinic instruction and evaluations
  • Student recruitment, advising and retention
  • Maintain competence through continuous professional development
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must have a minimum of an associate degree from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology and a minimum of three years' work experience in direct patient care in Radiology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prefer the employee has a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Radiologic Technology (or related) and a minimum of three years' work experience in direct patient care in Radiology. Employee must possess an unencumbered active license in Radiologic Technology from the state of South Carolina and have an active certification with the ARRT. The employee must be proficient in work experience with inpatient, trauma, fluoroscopic procedures, NICU, Pediatrics, Portables, Surgery/C-arm procedures. The employee must make appropriate independent clinical judgments based upon sound scientific principles and possess the ability to teach, supervise, and evaluate students in the clinical and/or didactic setting. Collaboration and coordination of teaching responsibilities with other members of the teaching team is required. The employee must follow divisional/college/state policies in fulfilling job duties. The employee will receive guidance from the Director of Clinical Education and the Academic Program Director for the Radiologic Technology Program.
