Life Enrichment Coordinator - Loudoun Rehab
Position Summary:
The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading engaging activities, events, and programs that enrich the lives of our residents. This role requires a passionate, creative, and dynamic individual who can effectively assess resident needs, interests, and capabilities to craft programs that promote physical health, mental engagement, and social interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Implementation: Design and execute a wide range of resident activities, including but not limited to, physical exercises, social gatherings, cognitive enrichment classes, creative arts, and community outings. Ensure activities are accessible to residents with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities.
Resident Engagement: Actively encourage resident participation in programs. Develop strategies to engage residents who are less inclined to participate in group activities, including one-on-one sessions.
Assessment and Planning: Regularly assess resident needs and interests through surveys, interviews, and observation. Use this information to tailor programs and activities to meet the evolving demographics and preferences of the resident population.
Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with other healthcare professionals at Loudoun Rehab to integrate therapeutic goals into the life enrichment programs. Coordinate with external vendors, volunteers, and community organizations to enhance program offerings.
Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of program attendance, resident participation, and feedback. Ensure all activities comply with relevant regulations and standards set by healthcare authorities.
Budget Management: Manage the life enrichment program budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation. Oversee the procurement of supplies and equipment needed for activities.
Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with the execution of programs. Ensure volunteers understand their roles and are effectively contributing to the residents' well-being.
Family Communication: Keep family members informed about the life enrichment programs and encourage their involvement in events and activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.
Experience in a recreational therapy or activities coordinator role, preferably in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse group of residents.
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities to adapt programs to meet resident needs.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate the scheduling of activities and events. The Life Enrichment Coordinator must be able to perform physical activities such as setting up for events and assisting residents with mobility challenges.
