Senior Content Editor

Greenleaf Integrative (www.greenleafintegrative.com) provides training and support servicesto humanitarian and development organizations to enhance the resiliency and performance of professionals working in demanding/overseas environments.

The Senior Content Editors will ensure adherence to all established standards for the delivery of the right content, at the right time, delivered via the right medium. They will collaborate across the training unit to support the clients’ branding and ensure its standards are present in all products. They will use a combination of data analysis, contact analysis, end-user research, copyright regulations, and best practices to make content decisions and edits.

Position Description:

  • Reports to Training Unit Manager

Job duties: 

  • Responsible for conceptualizing, producing, editing, analyzing content, researching, proofreading, re-structuring, and editing content for training and online content development purposes. 
  • Responsible for synthesizing and curating internal and customer-facing content, including managing collaborative development and review processes. 
  • Analyze readership data and develop content strategies to increase reader engagement and retention. 
  • Fact-check content and ensure the use of proper spelling, grammar, and syntax in outputs. 
  • Develop and curate compelling visual and written content for both traditional and digital formats and for various purposes and audiences. 
  • Create engaging and targeted messaging that resonates with the client’s branding, standards and style guide. 
  • Collaborate with other specialists, including graphic designers, trainers, instructional designers, and knowledge management specialists to ensure the expectations of a project are being met in terms of message, tone, accuracy, and quality.
  • Review, assess and edit documents to ensure compliance with Section 508 requirements and also, copyright regulations. 
  • Participate in the analysis and identification of current and future communication needs. 
  • Apply working awareness and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple, simultaneous projects to reach targets, staying on schedule and within the scope of work demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills, planning abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Understand and maintain the branding identity strategy for the client.
  • Manage workflow, communicate team needs, oversee employees' performance, and provide guidance and support to the team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or related field and 15 years related work experience. Or a Master’s degree in relevant field and 12 years related work experience
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain an interim and final Secret security clearance 

Required Experience: 

  • Senior-level experience communicating conceptual content to be relatable, clear, and concise.
  • Senior level experience analyzing and interpreting written material.
  • Proven experience analyzing and correcting documents for 508 compliance. 
  • Experience monitoring copyright regulations.
  • Proven experience using software tools to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and hyperlinks.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Content Editor subject matter expert, including recommendations on best practices on content development
  • Familiarity with SEO and keyword research
  • Experience with: 
    • International humanitarian and disaster relief 
    • Federal civilian agencies 
    • Absorb or Adobe Captivate Prime 

Required Skills: 

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Superior technological skills; high skill level with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word), Google Suite and publishing tools; ability to learn new software and databases quickly.
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience and knowledge of best practices for content development and analysis.
  • Strong project management skills. Complete and balance multiple projects demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills, planning abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Mentor and encourage other employees, and proactively develop their skill sets 
  • Demonstrated senior-level expertise in optimized accessible content.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, displaying candor and integrity at all times.
