JOB TITLE: Elementary Instructional Coach K-6

REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary Education

SUPERVISES: Non-Applicable

EMPLOYMENT AND FLSA STATUS: Exempt/Salary
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license for the assigned grade, level and/or subject(s). 
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Possesses a minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience; instructional coaching experience preferred
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Demonstrates a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs
  • Shows a proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners. 
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback. 
  • Exhibits a proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decision.
  • Possesses strong pedagogical knowledge and experience with effective instruction and assessment
  • Models continual improvement, demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students achieve.
  • Illustrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and participation in a wide range of significant professional development activities. 
  • Displays excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work positively with others
  • Flexible schedule: some training sessions may occur outside of typically contracted hours and days in order to meet teacher schedules.
  • Provides supervision of students in educational settings.

An Instructional Coach Serves as a Curriculum Specialist.

  • Bases instructional decisions based on academic standards and local maps to analyze student strengths and target areas for improvement
  • Works with teachers to become familiar with and tap into available and potential materials and tools to support classroom instruction 
  • Taps into the content expertise of the classroom teacher
  • Provides direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with district strategic plan, what is expected at other grade levels, and recognized best instructional practices

An Instructional Coach Serves as an Instructional Specialist.

  • Supports growth of educators in understanding and applying the G-C CSC Instructional Model, Theory of Action, and Profile of a Graduate
  • Models lessons that demonstrate effective teaching methods
  • Models ongoing curiosity and inquiry into educational trends and shares instructional strategies, processes, and research through rich, collegial conversations about instruction and assessment
  • Maintains confidentiality in all matters and remains responsive to the limitations of teachers’ classrooms
  • Provides guidance, structure, and reflective opportunities to teachers where needed
  • Co-plans and co-teaches to support differentiated instruction based on the readiness and skills of learners

A Instructional Coach Serves as an Assessment Specialist and Data Coach.

  • Models the practice of mining and analyzing student data to drive collaborative instructional decisions
  • Promotes the creation of assessments and the utilization of that data to drive differentiated instruction

A Instructional Coach Serves as a Professional Learning Facilitator.

  • Builds strong relationships with educators within and beyond Greenfield-Central Schools
  • Designs and facilitates job-embedded professional development based on the diverse needs of educators
  • Plans, attends, and/or facilitates training sessions within and beyond the school day or year
  • Observes and provides non-evaluative feedback to educators
  • Supports new teachers
  • Provides educators the opportunity to observe a particular teaching method, learning how other teachers organize for instruction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for extended periods of time; lift and carry 25 lbs.; work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations; see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter; hear and understand speech at normal levels; communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation, operate office equipment, and reach in all directions.

184 days per year
