Green Top Farms was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher who was troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. For the last ten years we have built a high volume food service, catering and delivery business. We serve large corporate offices in NYC, but have also remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. We spent the majority of our energies during the COVID Pandemic serving NYC City Agencies in the provision of food for the underserved, as well as non-profit agencies throughout NYC.

Our mission is to build a more sustainable and equitable food system, starting by reconnecting consumers and local farmers. We believe the results of strengthening that connection are better nutrition, more tasty food, greater social justice, and reduced environmental impacts. What You’ll Do:

The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity, including:

• Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
• Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
• Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
• Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction, focus and organization
• Share a trusting relationship with workgroup, manage and develop plant staff
• Create and implement plant safety procedures
• Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
• Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
• Coordinate Sanitation with Facilities team to USDA Standards
• Enforce compliance in USDA record keeping with QC team
• Thorough understanding of our HACCP plan and our product line

Who You Are:

• Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID with proof of vaccination (Required)
• Ability to carry over 50 pounds and remain standing for long periods of time
• Great written and communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills (Required)
• Bilingual Strongly Preferred (Spanish)
• Ability to delegate tasks to a team efficiently and effectively (Required)
• Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
• Proven managerial experience and experience operating USDA Plant (Required)
• Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
• Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
• Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
• Computer literacy
• Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
• Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
• BS degree in Business Management or related field
