Greater Omaha Packing is Hiring a General Foreman- Fabrication Near Omaha, NE

Position Type: Full Time

Department: Operations 

SUMMARY: This position will manage and direct the supervision of our beef processing production operations. This position will ensure production meets objectives at a designed quality level consistent with the lowest cost while maintaining a safe work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the quality and yields of products on the line.
  • Coordinate with production scheduler to plan daily production schedules, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Implements and enforces safety protocols, conducts regular safety inspections, and provides training on safety procedures.
  • Ensure that all products leaving the line area meet required specifications.
  • Prepare pre-operational paperwork and ensure the area is clean and sanitized before the day’s operations begin.
  • Ensure area is properly staffed to meet production needs.
  • Complete all Daily paperwork for area of responsibility.
  • Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and supplies ensuring adequate stock levels to meet production demands without excess wastage or shortages.
  • Understand and adhere to all Plant requirements regarding hourly employees.
  • Attend and give input at daily supervisor meetings within the processing area.
  • Run line meetings for management team as needed.
  • Responsible for administering follow-up training on all personnel online as needed.
  • Directly responsible for all direction and discipline to the area of responsibility.

Education and/or experience:

A four-year degree in a related field and/or related experience with Beef industry. Strong management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a management team. Proven ability to train and motivate personnel. Must have strong organizational skills.

Communication skills:

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, business partners, U.S.D.A., supervisors and employees. Bilingual Preferred.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to mine, analyze, prepare and present food safety data. Be able to demonstrate proficiency in software such as, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and prestige. 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Be able to speak on the phone, make field visits to industrial areas when necessary.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperature, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations.

Normal Work Schedule:

  • The schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday. Weekend work is required as scheduled. Saturdays are scheduled with or without notice.
