Greater Easton Development Partnership is Hiring a Head Custodian Near Easton, PA

Job Summary:

The Head Custodian maintains a clean and safe environment for staff and patrons of the Easton Public Market (EPM) and other GEDP properties, as directed by GEDP management. The Head Custodian performs all janitorial duties, included but not limited to, trash removal, and select maintenance in the EPM public areas as well as common and shared areas with vendors or GEDP staff, and at other GEDP properties as directed by GEDP management. The position also provides regular operational support at GEDP events, helps in maintaining and organizing GEDP equipment, and escalates EPM patron or vendor needs/concerns to supervisors.

Flexibility with both work days and work hours for special projects and business need is required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean bathrooms daily (including cleaning toilets, sanitary napkin disposal receptacles, sinks, counters, all surface areas, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing) and tidy bathrooms throughout the day as needed.
  • Restock paper goods (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.)
  • Remove trash and recycling. Monitor daily trash, recycling, and grease storage areas and pick-ups.
  • Perform enhanced cleaning to comply with orders of the Department of Health, CDC, or other organizations as required by city, state, or federal mandate or GEDP policy.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop all floors regularly and as needed.
  • Spot clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors.
  • Dust all surface areas, light fixtures, and speakers.
  • Maintain janitorial equipment per OEM recommendations.
  • Inventory and order all paper products, cleaning supplies, hand soap, sanitizer, etc.
  • Schedule quarterly deep cleaning as needed (buffing / waxing floors, cleaning vents etc.).
  • Light maintenance, including painting, spackling, hardware and fixture installation and repair, change light bulbs, and light plumbing.
  • Monitor heating, cooling, lighting, and security systems and escalate any issues to supervisors.
  • Notify supervisor when any major repairs, structural issues, or project requiring a tradesperson are required.
  • Weekly cleaning of administrative offices, including bathrooms, removing trash and recycling, vacuuming, dusting etc.
  • Snow and ice removal as needed. Maintain snow removal equipment and ice melt inventory.
  • Organize and clean common/storage storage areas and help inventory and maintain GEDP equipment.
  • Assist with set-up and tear down of equipment used for events inside and outside of EPM.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Prior custodial experience with basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work is required.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate GEDP’s systems, email, and basic MS Office is required.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must be able to safely use hand/power tools, including screw gun, electric floor cleaner, carpet extractor, power washer, leaf blower, and snow blower.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, either verbally and/or in writing. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb (including ladders); use hands to finger, handle, feel, and grasp; Use and reach with hands and arms; ability to see and distinguish color.

The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee is occasionally required to travel offsite to various gardens and for business meetings as needed. Employee must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
