Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is Hiring an Accountant (Entry Level) Near Baton Rouge, LA

Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Obtain and open all mail ensuring checks and cash are processed.

· Record all deposits, invoices and general ledger entries into the accounting system and submit them to the Senior Accountant for accuracy.

· Prepare, compile and sort documents for check batch deposits and upload to SharePoint for data entry.

· Ensure a 3-way match is met when processing invoices into the accounting system.

· Scan and upload invoices into the accounting system.

· Maintain accounts payable by obtaining W-9s for all new vendors, entering them into the accounting system and ensuring all vendor accounts are accurate at all times.

· Reconcile all bank deposits to the accounting system.

· Reconcile accounting software to donor tracking system weekly.

· Assist with monthly reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts.

· Act as purchasing agent for basic office supply needs.

· Assist in audit preparation by providing samples to management upon request.

· Perform other duties as may be assigned.

General Duties and Responsibilities:As a part of the team, all employees play an essential role and are expected to:

· Demonstrate and encourage a professional and positive attitude in all job-related activities.

· The ability to take initiatives to resolve issues.

· Accomplish all work activities in a safe and timely manner within assigned time frames.

· Report and/or correct deficiencies that constitute immediate threats to health and safety.

· Complete other tasks as assigned by the supervisor which are consistent with the definition and intent of the job description.

· All employees are considered critical first responders during emergency events (hurricanes, pandemics, etc.). This will require extreme flexibility of work schedule and hours during such events.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Associate degree in accounting or related field with 2 years of experience in the accounting function

· Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles, accounting terminology and internal controls.

· Knowledge of auditing practices and principles.

· Advanced working knowledge of excel.

· Highly collaborative style with attention to detail.

· Comfortable in an environment where multi-tasking and time management is necessary for success; capable of working under pressure and willing to work with deadlines.

· Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all departments.

· Self-starter and able to work independently; enjoy creating and implementing new initiatives.

Supports the vision and mission of the organization and demonstrates a service-oriented work ethic that promotes teamwork, employee satisfaction, and employee retention.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
