Job Description
How you Will Power our Purpose (Job Summary)
As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our organization, responsible for the strategic sourcing and efficient ordering of products at optimal value and price. Your keen attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively within diverse group settings will be instrumental in achieving our procurement goals.
How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions)
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work closely with vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and ensure a stable supply chain.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for various products and services.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to understand and address supply needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and mutual benefit.
  • Regularly assess supplier performance and address any issues proactively.
  • Monitor specified inventory levels to meet organizational needs.
  • Ensure timely deliveries and address any logistics challenges.
  • Analyze spend data to optimize procurement strategies and achieve the best pricing.
  • Lead by example in promoting the YMCA's mission, vision, and values.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be the ultimate storyteller of the YMCA's work and culture.
  • Promote the YMCA's brand and values within the community and among stakeholders.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
What You Bring to the Community Enterprise
  • High School diploma/GED required.A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Professional experience of 1-2 years using Microsoft 365 tools. Preferred, but not required, 1-2 years of purchasing and inventory experience.
  • You quickly learn from failure and value feedback in the effort to continuously improve.
  • You are a team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude and you can work well with others.
  • You listen for understanding and meaning. You speak and write effectively.
  • You build good customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.

We operate 8 community centers and Camp Moody along with 6 early childhood education centers, 60 afterschool programs on school campuses in four districts, and 20 summer camps, with 1500 staff team members, 1000 volunteers, and a $47M annual operating budget.
