Quality in Process Supervisor – Salina, KS

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Quality in Process Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and direct quality in process programs designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards, performing the duties personally or through subordinate leads and hourly team members.

This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus overtime on Fridays, as required. The Quality in Process Supervisor is based at the new Construction Equipment facility in Salina, KS. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Plan quality in process requirement for all manufacturing operations, establishing priorities and sequences, utilizing knowledge of quality assurance activities and human resource requirementsto ensure quality of products meets specifications.
  • Review quality assurance information and resolve quality control issues to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Maintain quality process objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant manager to maximize product reliability and minimize costs in compliance with corporate policies and goals.
  • Implement inspection criteria and procedures throughout production cycle, including to identify top in-line and external defects and implement root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each departmental process.
  • Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Implement quality assurance training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.Work with supervisors and team members to develop standard work.
  • Initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
  • Complete measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.Utilize root-cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, PDCA).
  • Complete changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve production data, using computer programs.Design, populate and interpret quality charts, graphs and similar visual metrics.
  • Maintain an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment. 
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in a leadership or management role preferred
  • Ability to identify top in-line and external defects and implement root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Working knowledge of production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Familiarity with root-cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, PDCA).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to maintain accurate paperwork
  • Willing to work overtime and occasional off-shifts as required 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Understand team concepts and be a strong team player
  • Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions and shift priorities as needed
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management & manufacturing organizational skills
  • Ability to drive culture of Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change to streamline processes
