Weld Manufacturing Quality In Process - 1st Shift - CE

Great Plains is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as a 1st Shift Weld Manufacturing Quality In Process at our CE facility. This unique opportunity allows you to work with team members to identify quality issues in the production process and responds to non-conformities found by our customers (both internal and external). This individual will safely perform in-process inspections to monitor and evaluate manufacturing quality. They will also support and train team members on inspection processes with the utilization of strong communication skills, training aids and on the job training techniques.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Have real-time knowledge of the quality condition in the shop.
  • Identify top in-line and external defects.
  • Work with supervisors, team leaders, floaters and team members to develop meaningful countermeasures to top defects.
  • Work with supervisors and team leaders to develop training plans for new employees.
  • Work with supervisors and team leaders to develop standard work.
  • Conduct daily/weekly/monthly QIP patrol and standard work audits.
  • Present ECR ideas to improve the products and processes.
  • Communicate suspect or quality defects with weld team members, weld leads and supervisors.
  • Utilize root-cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, PDCA).
  • Design, populates and interprets quality charts, graphs and similar visual metrics.
  • Clearly and consistently document all non-conformance findings on quality inspection check sheets.
  • Perform training of co-workers on inspection processes and equipment. Learns new processes quickly in order to deliver and conduct training of others.
  • Maintain 5S compliant work areas.
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Perform special projects as requested and related tasks as needed.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the weld process
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to work with little-to-no oversight
  • Previous quality experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous experience conducting on-the-job training preferred
  • Experience working with AS400 system preferred
  • Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills
