Lead the organization's Safety & Health Management System (SHMS), such as ISO 45001, ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. Collaborate with and support team members in the safety department to establish, verify, and promote safe and healthy working conditions. Identify and control safety hazards and conduct training sessions on safety and security topics.

Supervisory Responsibility: While this role is primarily leadership-focused, overseeing compliance and technology, it may involve supervision of consultants or contractors, rather than direct reports.

Typical Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of ISO 45001 SHMS, fostering teamwork and enthusiasm among team members.
• Communicate targets and status effectively with both team members and management, striving for continuous improvement in SHMS.
• Assist in developing and implementing safety and security policies and procedures.
• Manage on-site contractors and maintain records, including occupational injury records.
• Participate in developing department goals, budgets, and systems.
• Assist in the security program and practices, contributing to revisions as necessary.
• Support the Shift Supervisor during on-call rotations and assist in the preparation of reports, budgets, and action plans.
• Recommend innovative approaches to improve team effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, documenting compliance.
• Coordinate community events such as fundraising for local charities.
• Interact frequently with employees in their work areas and serve as the Safety Manager's designee when necessary.
• Handle additional assignments as required by management.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of related safety experience in an industrial environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or engineering preferred; other relevant degrees or experience may be considered.
• Experience with Safety & Health Management Systems such as ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001 or OSHA VPP STAR highly desired.
• Strong computer software skills required; education and experience in emergency response and security are advantageous.
