Schedule: Monday - Friday (1.0 FTE)

Wage: $19.32 (92% of starting MA wage for first 1,000 on job training hours)

After 1,000 hours wage will increase to 96% of starting MA wage.

The Registered Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program is a 12-15 month program
that will prepare students to take the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) test
through the National Healthcareer Association. This program is sponsored by
Washington Association for Community Health (WACH).
How the program works:


Tuition is covered, therefore you will not have debt.
Complete 2000 hours on the job training. (paid)
Complete 410 hours of supplemental coursework. (unpaid)
Attend 3 in-person lab days.
Two year employment commitment after completing the program and certification

is received.
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Certified Medical Assistants include
the following, but are not limited to:


Shadow a HRH Medical Group Certified Medical Assistant- per WACH
guidelines.

Complete all WACH course work and follow all requirements of the program.

Greet patients and escort them to an exam room.

Ensure patient flow is optimal at all times. If wait times are apparent,
communicate to patients, providers and co-workers.

Obtain vital signs and record in patients EHR.

Obtain and record patient history in patients EHR.

Update medication and immunization records in patients HER.

Ensure that providers have all appropriate information (results) for patient
appointments.

Prepare patients and assist with, routine and specialty exams, procedures,
treatments, and minor office procedures and ensure that adequate consent has
been obtained.

Telephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information
without requiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledge.

Perform wound dressing changes.

Specimen collection.

Diagnostic and Point of Care testing (may include EKG and respiratory testing)

Notify patients of test results as directed and requested by providers.

Carry out providers’ orders accurately and in a timely manner.

Communicate regularly with referral coordinators to ensure accurate and timely
referral process for consults, exams, diagnostics and procedures. Complete
referrals on acute basis when needed.

Perform daily room checks and stock exam rooms with all needed supplies

Demonstrate good infection control.

Administer vaccinations.
MA apprentices can perform any skills a Certified Medical Assistant can perform,
beginning the first day of their apprenticeship with direct visual supervision with a coach
or supervisor in the room, watching.
Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or Equivalent
BLS Training and Certificate within 30 days
Enrollment in the In-Reach MA Apprenticeship Program- Sponsored by, WACH. (If chosen for
the program)
